Yes, I admit it. I am an overpacker!

That’s why my husband lugged around so many bags during my first delivery (thanks hubs!).  This time around, I have learned my lesson and will only bring only the items we have found useful during my first delivery.  I’ll be giving birth through C-Section so we will stay around 4 days in the hospital.

Here are my hospital must haves for baby number 2:

Newborn Diapers – The hospital normally provides a sample pack of diapers for the baby but the free pack we received for my eldest irritated her skin and gave her rashes. This time, I’m bringing a pack of my preferred newborn diaper brand (Pampers) to be safe.

Cotton Pads – During my first childbirth, we were advised to use only water and cotton for the first few days.  This time around, we will be bringing cotton pads which will make wiping off meconium (baby’s first poop!) faster and easier.

Diaper Barrier Cream – Burt’s Bees worked wonders in protecting the skin of the my eldest from rashes so we’re bringing a tube, just in case we need it. Hopefully not!

4 to 6 Sleepsuits – The rooms in the hospital I’ll be giving birth in, Cardinal Santos Medical Center, can get really cold so we will bring sleepsuits to help keep the baby warm. We love sleepsuits with built in mittens and socks so that we don’t have to bring separate ones.  We’re bringing a couple of extra sleepsuits in case of poopie accidents.

Homecoming Outfit for Baby – I will bring a lighter, short sleeved homecoming outfit for the baby since it is quite warm outside when I will give birth.

4 Hats –  To keep baby warm and toasty especially at night.

2 Swaddles – We love the no brainer zip-up or velcro swaddles to keep baby feeling secure nd warm without the hassle of folding and refolding a receiving blanket.

1 Hooded Towel  – This will be used for baby’s first bath in the hospital.

Soap: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser – My eldest had super sensitive skin and only Cetaphil worked for her when she was a newborn.   We’re using the same brand for baby number 2 just in case he will have the same sensitive skin.

Shampoo: Aveeno Baby Wash and Shampoo – This is a tried and tested brand on my eldest so we will use the same for the baby.

Carseat and Stroller – Safety first! We’re using our 2-in-1 Graco travel stroller for taking baby home from the hospital.

Laundry Bag – A big plastic bag for baby’s used clothes, especially if there are poopie or puke-y accidents.

That’s it for the little guy!  You can check out my packing list for mommy and daddy here.

Happy packing!
